REVIEW – Mac Viva Glam Miley Cyrus 2

Hi everyone!

Today I have another review for you! Even though these two products I will share with you today have been out for about two months, I realized I have not mentioned them even once on my blog. So I figured it was finally time to do so. And since they are limited editions you might want to get your hands on them as soon as possible!

So the two products I am talking about are the Mac Viva Glam Miley Cyrus 2 lipstick and lipglass. Like every Mac Viva Glam celebrity that collaborates, Miley Cyrus also has her second Viva Glam out. If you want to see my review of the first Miley Cyrus Viva Glam collaboration with Mac, you can check out my article from a while back right here: http://www.germmagazine.com/product-review-mac-viva-glam-miley-cyrus/

If you don’t know what the difference is between a regular Mac lipstick and a Viva Glam one, I will try to explain it for you. Each year Mac has a new spokesperson to collaborate with them for a new Viva Glam lipstick and lipglass. There have been some real icons involved like Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Nicki Minaj. They usually get two different collaborations a year. The amazing thing about the Viva Glam lipsticks is that 100% of the proceeds goes to the Mac Aids fund. So while you are shopping for some new lip products, you are automatically supporting an amazing cause. Most of these are limited edition though, so if you see one you want, you’d better get your hands on them before they are gone! Now that that is cleared up; on to the actual products!

Lipstick

First of all, the lipstick is a matte finish which I think is absolutely beautiful. And the color of it is just amazing. It is a bold red shade with orange undertones. Now some say it is more orange and others say it is more of a red. I really think it depends on the lighting you are in when you look at it. It is true that when you have bright lighting around you, the lipstick looks more orange, but overall I think the red is more prominent.

Even though the lipstick is a matte finish it applies creamy and it is very pigmented which helps a lot when it comes to applying it to the lips. It makes it very easy to create a sharp edge and a smooth overall look. After a whole day of wearing the lipstick on its own, it does get a little bit drying on the lips, but definitely not nearly as drying as other matte lipstick formulas out there. Besides, I think it is totally worth it because of the classy look the combination of the red and the matte finish gives.

Overall I love this lipstick for the days I feel like wearing a bold lip.

Lipglass

The lipglass is in the same shade as the lipstick is, but it is way more sheer. Once applied I feel like it looks more like a subtle stain of red instead of an actual pigmented gloss. But I personally don’t have a problem with that. I quite like the look of a subtle gloss on the lips. Besides that it also has quite some shimmer in it and looks really glossy. Like the majority of the Mac lipglasses, this is a very sticky gloss so do keep that in mind if you are interested in getting one. I do think that once you get used to the texture of it, it is no big deal.

You can wear these separately, but of course you can pair them if you want to go all out. It really makes the orangey-red pop and adds a beautiful shine to it as well.

As you can probably tell I am a huge fan! I think Mac and Miley Cyrus did an amazing job creating this shade and these products in general. And as an added bonus; the lipstick and lipglass both have Miley’s signature on the packaging which is amazing for all the Smilers out there!
